ditchling museum | collaboration

Last year we worked with the Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft to create brooches for their gift shop.

As they have just re-ordered another batch we thought it was about time we told you about them!

The Hound of St Dominic was originally a wood engraving by Eric Gill which became the symbol for the St. Dominic’s Press.

To mark the acquisition of a new David Jones woodblock of the Hound of St Dominic, Ditchling Museum asked us to create some brooches!

We've never worked with designs in this way before and we were sent a photograph of that original engraving to create our designs for the brooches.

The two pieces which we created from the design are a fully engraved hound in cherry wood, and then a hound with the red fiery torch in acrylic. This piece might look like it's two pieces, but it's actually six, and one of the pieces is not more than a slither of plastic! (it's super fiddly to glue together)

They all come in a designosaur branded gift box and you can find them at the Ditchling Museum, what are you waiting for?

Seriously though, if you haven't been you should go, it's a a great museum, filled with local design and crafts work. If you're Brighton based it's a couple of stops on the train and then a short countryside walk, easy!

PS We'll be running a typographic jewellery making workshop there in September, more details on that soon!

toft | collaboration

Heyyy!

We don't tell you enough about the awesome commissions that we do, so we are going to be sharing more about them, starting... frommmmm..... NOW!

Toft is a shop in Rugby,UK based on an Alpaca Stud farm that sells, yarns, kits and gifts. You should follow them on instagram as they post plenty of photos of fluffy alpacas!

Kerry, Toft's founder got in touch with us as she had seen our work before, she mentioned that all of the office were huge fans, and with that kind of flattery how could we say no? (how to get us to work with you 101 - compliments, lots of them)

Kerry wanted us to create an Alpaca necklace that could be sold exclusively through the Toft shop. We came up with a few designs along with some different chain options (different weights, lengths and styles) and sent the samples off to Toft.

These are the bad boys that were selected. There's a cute little alpaca necklace with engraved hooves and eyes and then a slightly larger version with a knitted jumper texture as the alpacas fluff!

We love taking on fun new projects so if you have something in mind get in touch!

i Like CATS x designosaur

A couple of weeks ago we launched a very selfish project with Toby from i Like Cats.

Starting to work on a collaboration in the autumn is never a good idea as the build up to Christmas is INTENSE and unfortunately fun projects like this get pushed sideways. However as it's spring and things are a little less crazy we were able to have ice cream business meeting and play with all our favourite materials!

Emoji purse covered in cats, dinosaurs and emojis!

I won't lie, Jacques really did indulge us in this project, he's not really a pink and fluffy kinda guy himself buy knew that Toby and I had a vision and we were running with it!

Toby creates a whole range of items from prints to jewellery, and tote bags to pocket mirrors. He has created his own purses before and is the bestest-sewerer in all the land.

I think people like my nail varnish more than the bags in these photos...

We wanted to create something pastely, kawaii, fluffy and obviously including our favourite things, cats, dinosaurs and emojis whilst being inspired by the 90s!

FLUFFY! You can get a fluffy clutch and then put your emoji purse inside! WOAH NOW!

Inside of this FLUFFY BEAUTY!

This came together pretty easily, there were no arguments and Toby and I apparently have exactly the same taste (although Toby loves plushies in a way I never could).

Toby - WERKING IT.

Me - SO OVEREXCITED ABOUT THE BEACH HUT WHERE ZOELLA TAKES PHOTOS!

This is what we made! We LURRRVVVEEE them and I hope you do too!
