etsy european captains' summit in amsterdam.

I saw this and it seemed so poignant.
"Another summit, I'm sick of hearing about them!"
I'm sorry if you feel that way, it's the last one of 2015 so you can breathe a sigh of relief! I am now a summit vetren, and in fact, I think I have been to the most Etsy Summits out of everyone ever, including Etsy Admins. There have been nine summits in total and I've been invited to, and attended seven of them.

It's always so exciting arriving outside of the summit, you never know what is behind those doors!

"But why do you keep going Karli? And what can you get out of going to the same thing seven times!?!"

I've been Captain of the Brighton Etsy Team for two years now, when I went to the first summit back in February 2014 I was a newbie captain and we had a fairly newly activated team, but this aside I still did a talk on leadership in my team, as I was asked to do so.

It spiraled from there, I was then invited to do the same talk at the upcoming, French, German and UK Summits and just a few months back I was whisked to Melbourne, Australia to do it again!

Building our agenda together.

Chad Dickerson himself giving an awesome introduction, which we were told not to repeat ;)

I'm very passionate about the team, we've achieved so much from a Christmas market to a Pop Up shop, from talks to meet ups with over 50 people, which I wouldn't have been able to do without some awesome leaders and extremely talented team members.

So this summit was an open agenda, and most of Etsy's senior staff were there including the CEO himself (we periscoped!) I didn't have to present and so I did a lot of listening. I soaked it all up and chatted away to new captains and experienced captains about the ins and outs of the Brighton Etsy Team.

Break out session with some awesome captains!

Some of my faves from the UK! These girls got it going onnnnnn!

It's said all the time that you never stop learning, and it's so true. I could go to another seven summits and I'm sure I'd get as much out of it as the very first one.

Thanks for having me Etsy, I learnt a lot and I'm excited to put it into practice.

brighton etsy pop up - part two

Last week I asked if you wanted to hear part two of the Pop Up adventure so here I am writing it! If you missed that you can check it out here.

We soft launched the pop up on Thursday 6th November. I don't think we were even open when the customers asked if they could come in and browse! We spent Thursday running around pricing the last bits, and preparing for the Private View!

If you managed to visit the shop, you'd know it wasn't very big, but we did manage to pack it full of the designers and their family and friends! We had some drinks to celebrate opening our very own shop and then it was time to start thinking about our next big party!

We had so many people that wanted to come to the Private View that we knew we wouldn't have space for the Press to really get a feel for what we had created. That's what Saturday, our all day launch party, was for! Tori [Jasmine and Hobbes] who works in Events at her day job, and was a vital part of the pop up committee, planned a fun day to draw lots of people down for the grand opening.

We had a decoration and badge making workshop with Cheska [mooshpie], the USSU stage choir, local buskers performing and spiced Christmas tea for every visitor!

some of the clothing, including dresses by Dig for Victory, T-Shirts by hello DODO and Likks and upcycled pieces by Bettina Nem

Lola Hoad working the cash desk and Moosphie buying a Mrs Lovedays Emporium hat for minipie!
We had created a few press packs, and obviously the shop was open to all. In the end it was a really busy day first day! I'd like to say that we then went home to relax for the rest of the month but it was a lot of hard work from all involved running the shop!

I hope you've enjoyed hearing a little about our Pop Up shop, if you have any questions let me know in the comments.

Today happens to be our "Etsy-versary", we are three! If you are reading this on Tuesday then you can use WOAHNOW for 30% off until midnight!

#btnetsy talks

Today is a big one!

I have mentioned here numerous times that I'm the Captain of the Brighton Etsy Team, we do so much with the team and the talks are a regular event which we hold at The Old Market FOR FREE!

This months talk we have the Etsy UK admins Susannah and Sarah coming down to talk to us about Tactile Craft in a Digital world as part of the Brighton Digital Festival.

As well as Etsy experts we have our own team members Toby from I Like CATS, Ellen from B Millinery and Claire from Yellow Bear Wares sharing their experiences too!

It's only a few hours away and I can't wait, although I have to set up the projector and mic this time so fingers crossed it all runs smoothly ey! I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow!
